Inside the Ford Kuga, you’ll find a cabin similar to that in the Ford Focus hatchback, which means a good level of quality and a dash layout that is simple and easy to navigate. All models feature an 8.0-inch central touchscreen that houses Ford’s excellent SYNC 3 infotainment system.

Ford has delivered a set of trim levels which offer something for every customer’s needs. This means that 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, keyless entry, climate control, a crystal-clear reversing camera, partial leather trim and an upgraded B&O premium audio system are all now included as standard.

The ST-Line cars include a more aggressive body-styling kit, sports suspension and unique ST-Line badging for those who want something a little sportier. Upgrade to the ST-Line X version, and you’ll gain 19-inch alloys, a panoramic roof, a power tailgate and heated seats, while the luxury-spec Vignale cars are further equipped with a heated steering wheel, full leather upholstery and metallic paint.

Sat-nav, stereo and infotainment

The Kuga comes with Ford’s SYNC 3 navigation and infotainment set-up. Sat-nav is standard, as is Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for those who prefer connecting to apps via their smartphone. A wireless phone charging pad is available as a £150 option.

The system loads quickly and is easy to use, while the built-in user interface allows fast access to the functions you want. The screen is sharp and responsive, plus the large icons on the screen make it relatively easy to use while on the move.

Digital dials now feature on all versions of the Kuga, but these don’t offer the same configurability as you get in some rival systems, and you can’t display the sat nav map on the instrument cluster like you can with the Peugeot 3008, or Volkswagen Tiguan.
