KG Mobility Tivoli update removes SsangYong badging

The entry-level model has been redesigned and rebranded for 2023

SsangYong was bought by fellow Korean firm KG Group in 2022, essentially saving the car maker from liquidation. Now, the firm’s Tivoli has been given a makeover in the hope of generating renewed interest for the small SUV under the new KG Mobility brand name.

SsangYong UK says we can expect the updated Tivoli to launch here in September, once again going up against rivals like the MG ZS and the Suzuki Vitara. The Tivoli has been with us since 2015, receiving its first facelift in 2019, this latest update sees changes to the bodywork but also some tweaks to the cabin as well.

At the front we can see a smaller top grille, doing away with the badge in favour of asymmetrical Tivoli lettering and a larger lower grille opening. The shape of the headlights remains the same, but some of the LED details have been changed.

New 18-inch alloy wheels have appeared on the side, as have some new skirts and a faux skid plate. The SangYong badge has been removed from the boot lid but it’s worth noting KG Mobility still uses the SangYong logo elsewhere on the car, such as on the steering wheel.

On the inside the 10.25-inch driver’s display and nine-inch central infotainment screen have been retained, but some of the physical buttons for the climate controls have been replaced by touch-sensitive buttons.

When the new Tivoli goes on sale we expect two petrol options - a naturally-aspirated 1.6-litre four-cylinder with 124bhp and a turbocharged 1.5-litre with 161bhp. The outgoing Tivoli is offered with a five and six-speed manual although we expect that the sole gearbox for the new car will be a six-speed automatic with either a front-wheel drive or an optional four-wheel drive system. We also expect the Tivoli’s starting price tag of £20,055 to increase with the updated model.
